Know your sh1t!

Yesterday my brother-in law sent me the following infographic about 'poop.' I'm not sure if he's genuinely concerned about my health, or if this is his idea of toilet humour.

There's also family-friendly version of this infographic if you want to share it with children, or people who may take offence to the word 'shit.'

Possibly the best thing on the internet...

"Weird Al" Yankovic's parody of Robin Thicke's "Blurred lines" is probably the best thing on the internet at the moment.

First ever 'Sky Braai'

After yesterday's April Fools' post, one of the featured pranksters, Kulula.com decided to put their "Sky Braai" to the test. Although the braai [barbecue] didn't take place on one of Kulula's green aircraft as the original joke implied, it did take place in the sky.

Full of the typical Kulula tongue-in-cheek humour, the video shows how the low-cost airline company partly lived up to their April Fools' claims. Why only partly you may ask, because I didn't see any veggie skewers on offer.

Blizzard's venture into fighting games, and other stories from today

Sorry if the title got your hopes up, but today is 1 April. As such, here is a collection of three of my favourite pranks from this morning:

"Thought of dappling in some home brewing? It just got a whole lot easier with our new syrups. Carbonate your own craft beer in the comfort of your own home. Go on what are you waiting for?"

This idea might actually work for non-alcoholic beers, but who drinks non-alcoholic beers anyway?

"Straight from the flames onto your tray with kulula’s in-flight sky braai! We are proud to announce another world-first from kulula.com. We’re taking South Africa’s favourite pastime to new heights. Going forward, our customers will be able to select their fav meat or veggie skewer and have it braaied in the sky."

Who doesn't enjoy meat cooked over an open flame? Kulula is renowned for their sense of humour, as well as being "the most South African airline." What better way to make a flight more South African, than with an on-board braai, or barbecue for those not in the know?

3. Blizzard EntertainmentBlizzard Outcasts: Vengeance of the Vanquished

"We're proud to announce Blizzard Outcasts - Vengeance of the Vanquished! Watch the trailer →"

Blizzard are known for their elaborate April Fool pranks, and this year was no different with the announcement of a new game and optional controller, complete with a video and website filled with character biographies and concept art. Clearly a lot of thought and effort was put into this.

The Avengers vs More Avengers

Today's Madame & Eve cartoon by Stephen Francis and Rico is one of the best I've seen all year. Not only is it poking fun at South Africa's most prominent politicians, but it also makes light of frustration being caused due to the latest Marvel movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron is being filmed in down town Johannesburg. Several of the streets in the inner CBD have been closed off while Hulk runs amok, causing even worse traffic than normal in the area. Good thing I'm not planning on going near that part of town for quite some time still.

How to Death Metal

Here's a quick video tutorial from the Super Quest just for all those aspiring guitarists out there. this one will teach you how to 'Death Metal!'

Super Quest's series of How to Metal videos are pretty hilarious, even if at times a little silly. But that's the point. Also, that's a rad shirt, even though I don't like yellow.

What is your country best at?

Dog House Diaries compiled the following map of the world, showing which 'commodity' each country is the global leader of. Here's the list of sources if you want to see which countries save the most energy (Republic of Congo), or are the happiest (Costa Rica), or are the most corrupt (Turkmenistan).

Coffee, axes and trousers

Here's an Idees vol Vrees comic from a month or so ago. It's in Afrikaans, and it's about coffee. I thought it was pretty funny when I first came across it, but now I feel it's more appropriate to share, mostly because of this

Direct translations for those of you who don't understand Afrikaans:
Blue Jacket: Ek drink koffie [I'm drinking coffee]
Grey Jacket: Ek kap 'n chino [I'm chopping a chino]

Admittedly, the direct translation probably still isn't funny, but 'kap 'n chino,' would sound very similar to cappuccino when spoken. If its' still not funny, then there's not much more I can do except apologise for sharing a comic which isn't funny if you don't understand Afrikaans.

GTA V week 1 round up, after 2 weeks

Rockstar Games posted a collection of videos a week after the release of Grand Theft Auto V. I've finally gotten the chance to share it with you now, on the chance that you haven't already come across it on your own.

By the far the funniest GTA V compilation I've seen so far, is this compilation of in game fails. Enjoy.

Grand Theft Auto V review video

So I ended up cancelling my pre-order for Grand Theft Auto V, and I don't regret doing so. I have quite a few untouched games in my stash already, so I figured I'd wait a while before getting GTA V. On the plus side, it means I have some spare time to watch videos like this.

Prank of the year!

A bunch of blokes in New Zealand pulled off one of the most well thought out pranks ever. They rigged the plumbing in a friend's house so that all the taps poured cold beer. Epic way to invite yourselves around for a party too.

The Oatmeal's portrait of an ageing pop star

This drawing of Miley  Cyrus has to be the best portraiture The Oatmeal has ever done! You  can read the full comic over on at The Oatmeal's site. Show him some love and pre-order his new book 'Why Grizzly Bears Should Wear Underpants.'

USS Enterprise reacts to MTV's Video Music Awards

So I've generally held off posting stories about teen pop stars like Justin Bieber being immature, but I feel this video response to Miley Cyrus' recent performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was well worth sharing.

Aries Head Films put together this short video showing Captain Kirk and his crew of the USS Enterprise succumbing to the effects of the above mentioned performance. Even if you're not a Star Trek fan, this short video is well worth watching.

What have we learnt from this entire ordeal? Firstly people are a lot more interested in gossiping over the idiotic behaviour of supposed 'artists,' rather than talking about real-world issues that will ultimately affect us all for a lot longer than watching Cyrus' pathetic behaviour.

It's times like these that I'm thankful I live in Africa

Happy 4th of July!

Especially for the American readers:

My American geographical knowledge isn't the best, but I will definitely keep this map in mind for my intended trip to New York, Boston and Los Angeles later this year.

Real-time PhotoShopping in the streets of Stockholm

Photographer and renowned retouch artist, Erik Johannson, together with Adobe, pulled off one of the greatest street pranks I've ever seen.

Here's a link to Johannson's initial blog post.
